WEDNESDAYS & FRIDAYS

@ 6:00PM - 9:00PM

The Centre provides a safe place for youth who can connect with peers facing similar challenges in an environment of acceptance and belonging.

Youth interact with caring volunteers who are interested in building relationships and investing time.

Youth can shoot hoops, play Xbox, pool and table tennis. Kids can enjoy games, reading, and using the computers. They are also able to get help with homework and day-to-day issues that they face.

Snacks and refreshments are always provided.

Mentoring

Mentoring

What is the value of mentoring?

Mentoring gives a young person the surety that there is someone who cares about them. They know they are not alone in the challenges that they face.

They have a friend who, as a youth once themselves, has experienced much of what they are now facing and who is willing to guide and help.

What Mentors Do:

- Provide stability

- Help keep the student in school and regularly attending

- Help with homework (thus improving the student’s academic   skills.)

- Improve the mentee’s self-esteem and self-worth

- Guide the student toward an appropriate career choice and teach      them how to seek - and keep - a job

- Be there to listen and give guidance and love

Mentors do not replace parents, guardians or teachers. They do not make decisions for the youth. Mentors help define goals for the youth and help them find ways to achieve those goals. This should be a flexible relationship that responds to both the mentor’s and youth’s needs.
