Youth Impact Centre COVID-19 Update

Dear Youth Impact Centre Youth and Families,

In light of all the publicly funded schools shutting down for two weeks after March Break due to the developing COVID-19 virus, we wanted to let the students and their families know about what conclusion we have come to in-regards to shutting our programs down. As of right now, we will not be shutting down any of our programs (Tuesday After School Programs, Drop-in, Teen Group, God Talk) at the Youth Impact Centre.

To ensure that our students, volunteers and staff stay as safe and healthy as possible, we have come up with new protocols that will be put into action at all Youth Impact Centre Programs until further notice. We are not exercising this caution out of fear, and we’re confident that the risk to our community still remains low at this time, but we want to make sure we do our part in protecting those who are considered more vulnerable in our community, and therefore we plan to be diligent in stopping the spread of germs where possible. In the meantime, all youth, parents, volunteer and staff are expected to abide by these protocols until further notice:

1.) All programs will have a designated volunteer that will be at the front door to give hand sanitizer to all that enter the Centre doors.

2.)The designated volunteer will be screening all students and parents before they are allowed to come into the Centre. If the student, parent or volunteer is sick or coughing, they will not be allowed to attend programming or enter the Centre.

3.) All students will receive a stamp on their hand for staff and volunteers to know who has been screened and approved to enter the Centre.

4.) We have hand-sanitizer placed throughout the Centre. We encourage all youth, staff and volunteers to use these, and to continue to wash their hands regularly.

5.) We are taking extra precautions to ensure the Centre, including surfaces, door handles, toilet handles, water faucets and game equipment are cleaned in between and during programs.

6.) If youth start to feel sick or have a cough while they are in the Centre, their parents will be called to come pick them up. They will not be allowed to stay.

We will continue to monitor this situation and respond to developments based on advice as it’s released by the Government. If you have any concerns or questions please email us at youthimpactcentre@gmail.com, or private message us through our Facebook page. Lastly, please pray for our community, country and world, during this time. We pray that God would protect those who are vulnerable, heal those who are sick, and comfort those who are mourning.

Thank you for helping us keep our community healthy!
